"Haynesville" to be Shown in Weatherford

Thanks for visiting our site! Haynesville, a documentary about the Haynesville gas shale in northwestern Louisiana, is coming to Weatherford on Friday, June 18.

Directed by Gregory Kallenberg, this film follows three people caught in the middle of this new energy find: A single mom who takes up the defense of her community’s environmental protections, an African-American preacher who uses shale money to build a new Christian school, and a self-described “country boy” who weighs using his land against an energy company’s offer to make him a millionaire.

Haynesville was chosen as a “Spotlight Premiere” film at this year’s South by Southwest film festival in Austin, and it has been shown at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, and at the Sheffield Documentary Festival in England.

The screening of this film will take place at 7 p.m. June 18, at the Mince Auditorium on the Weatherford College campus. Admission is $12, and includes a 6 p.m. meet-and-greet and appetizer hour with Kallenberg, the director of Haynesville. Kallenberg will also hold a question-and-answer session after the screening.
